An international research team led by the University of Liverpool and McMaster University has made a significant breakthrough in the search for new states of matter.  A team of researchers with members from several institutions in the U.S. and Russia has found evidence that suggests spin liquids in ferromagnets may be similar to dipole liquids in ferroelectrics.  Electrons in graphene—an atomically thin, flexible and incredibly strong substance that has captured the imagination of materials scientists and physicists alike—move at the speed of light, and behave like they have no mass.  In a series of exciting experiments, Cambridge researchers experienced weightlessness testing graphene's application in space.  Scientists from ITMO University have developed effective nanoscale light sources based on halide perovskite.
