A Study on the Improvement of Servo Control Characteristics of Ultra Precision Machine Tools by ANFIS-PID Controller

Authors: Su-Bom Yun, On-Jeng Sim
Comments: 17 Pages. Ultra-precision machine tools are highly demanding machining environments.

The demand for ultra-precision machining is increasing day by day. In particular, demand for ultra-precision processing products is increasing in many fields such as defense industry, space industry, and economy. Accordingly, ultra-precision processing technology is also increasing. However, the precision of machining varies depending on the environment. The most influential factors are vibration, temperature, and wear. Therefore, a special tool setting a micro-thermosensor is installed to measure the temperature change at the cutting point in real time. Recently, various artificial intelligence manipulation techniques have been studied to overcome these deficiencies. In this paper, we describe the improvement of the control accuracy compared to the previous controllers by applying the adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller that takes into account the model uncertainty of the subject and by conducting the simulation.

Back to Enchantment ?

Authors: Elemer E Rosinger

The fundamental concept of the "UNKNOWN UNKNOWN" introduced seemingly accidentally by Donald Rumsfeld in 2002, is shown to have a rather unique ontological role which may make it suitable for a disenchanted modern generation to wake up to the existence and fundamental role of what traditionally is called the "transcendental".

Magnetic Scalar Field Generator

Authors: Vitaliy Zamsha, Vladimir Shevtsov
Comments: 8 Pages. innovation in magnetic scalar field

In this paper work, authors represent an innovative construction of the scalar field generator, which is named as “scalar gun”. Scalar gun proposed in this article can be used as a magnetic scalar field generator for educational purpose, for some research in physics or biology or medicine or as part of the communication system etc.

Does wu Kun’s Philosophy of Information Define What is Information?

Authors: Emanuel Diamant

The need for a generally accepted definition of “what is information” is self-evident and acute. However, Kun’s definition of information as a philosophical category indicating indirect being is unable to satisfy this need, especially when it comes to an everyday usage of the term. That forced me to seek for a more suitable definition of information. Despite the differences, Kun and I agree that we witness today a paradigm shift from data-based computational way of thinking to information-based cognitive way of thinking (Kun calls that “informalization of science”). Below is provided a short comment on the issue.

Omnipresent Consciousness and Free Will

Authors: Claus Janew
Comments: 10 Pages. CC-BY 4.0 / Janew, Claus. 2011. Omnipresent Consciousness and Free Will. Journal of Consciousness Exploration & Research 2, no. 6: 868-876

This article is not an attempt to explain consciousness in terms basically of quantum physics or neuro-biology. Instead I should like to place the term "Consciousness" on a broader footing. I shall therefore proceed from everyday reality, precisely where we experience ourselves as conscious beings. I shall use the term in such a general way as to resolve the question whether only a human being enjoys consciousness, or even a thermostat. Whilst the difference is considerable, it is not fundamental. Every effect exists in the perception of a consciousness. I elaborate on its freedom of choice, in my view the most important source of creativity, in a similarly general way. The problems associated with a really conscious decision do not disappear by mixing determination with a touch of coincidence. Both must enter into a higher unity. In so doing it will emerge that a certain degree of freedom of choice is just as omnipresent as consciousness - an inherent part of reality itself.

Heroical Apatheism: Mala Fide Bootstrapping Obligations

Authors: Ian von Hegner

Abstract: Discussions on hypothetical gods virtually always focus on the latter’s existence or nonexistence. However, these are only the secondary questions. Heroical apatheism distinguishes these questions from the primary question, which pertains to the importance of these gods. It is a deeply ingrained assumption that if the gods have created the universe and humankind, then this implicitly entails the obligations that these gods must be worshipped and obeyed. These relations between existence and acts and worship and obedience to the gods are so commonplace that virtually no one questions their existence. The rights of these gods are simply assumed at face value. However, the issues pertaining to these necessary relations are not trivial in any respect. This paper highlights these relations by first formulating two cosmological models for the initial condition of the universe and, thereafter, applying these in the analyses of the claims regarding these relations. By doing so, it shows that the justifications for the aforementioned obligations always result in a Münchhausen bootstrapping circularity or are ad hoc. Any necessary relations between existence and worship and between acts of creation and obedience cannot be demonstrated. Furthermore, these assumptions are based on the frequently overlooked reasoning that arguing for or against the obligations to the gods implicitly assumes that these gods have a right to such obligations to begin with. However, all that can be shown is the power to enforce obedience. Thus, heroical apatheism is founded on neither doubt nor disobedience because disobedience implies that an authority exists and an authority’s right presupposes that there is such a right. However, there is no such right, and we do not equate might with right.
