New Static Solutions of Yang-Mills Equations for n Point Sources and Their Implications for Quark Confinement

Authors: Junghwan Jun

We present new static solutions of SU(2) Yang-Mills equations for $n$ point sources aligned in a common isospin direction. The solutions possess a gauge field structure analogous to the BPST instanton while constituting a distinct class of static solutions, and satisfy the Coulomb gauge condition. They are either self dual or anti-self dual. Substitution of the solutions into the Yang-Mills equations yields localized source terms corresponding to a non-Abelian electric charge but also a magnetic monopole charge associated with each source. Furthermore, the resulting gauge fields generate a confining potential for quarks. These properties suggest that the present solutions provide a new class of nonperturbative configurations in Yang-Mills theory.
